Our Mission

Storybrook Academy is a faith based preschool committed to providing the age of six (6) weeks to twelve (12) years of age with a nurturing safe environment, while independently learning the base foundations that shape their minds to be successful lifelong learners, and our leaders of tomorrow.

Our Philosophy

Each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As educators, it is or desire to help students to meet their fullest potential in the areas by providing an environment that is safe, and supports risk-taking. We strive for establishing an environment for teachers to act as a guide, allow curiosity to direct each individual's’ learning style, and promote respect for all things living and all people. In addition to providing an environment for children to grow as an individual, our goal is to implement Christian education of the future generations of young people committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the framework of a Christian worldview, students are shown the value of all the wonders of God’s creations. Our goal is to establish and conduct an atmosphere where every child has the opportunity to learn while nurturing the children in the aspects each individual needs to grow holistically.

Our Curriculum

Storybrook Academy implements Pinnacle early childhood curriculum which is designed with both teacher and student minds. The Pinnacle curriculum is intertwines faith in the lessons in addition to providing the teachers with lessons that engage children in developmentally appropriate activities. The lessons include guided enriched activities and short/long term goals that advances each child growing through our program.

Infant-Toddlers – Yoga – Sign Language

Yoga is based on the interests, energies, and developmental stages of children in each age group. While children develop in their own pace, yoga will be incorporated in the weekly agenda. The class is filled with music and movement, hands on stretching, and forms of animal yoga. This class promotes body awareness and motor coordination. In the older age groups playful poses, animated breathing techniques will stimulate the fun and creative curiosity of the young mind and body.

Infant sign language boosts communication and freezes up time for positive developmental interactions. The benefit of learning sign language at Storybrook Academy will help lower noise levels in the classroom by reducing frustrated screaming and crying infants. Learning how to sign also minimizes stress and frustration for the teachers who are responsible for meeting the needs of many children at once.

Creative Arts- Music – Spanish- Art- Technology-Cooking

The creative arts programs offered at Storybrook Academy is unique and was created to help children in all areas of development. It has been proven that music engages all areas of the brain and benefits the children with: memory, concentration, recall, speech/language development, rhythm/pattern, and social interaction.

Spanish will be incorporated through the daily learning in each classroom, creating a multicultural environment into the children’s learning experience will expand their cooperative and social skills. The best way to teach should always match how they learn, so incorporating Spanish through stories, plays, songs, and communication will adequately immerse the children to learn a new language.

Technology is a great tool to be integrated at this growing age. This amenity will be offered to the children 3 years old and above. Children will have the opportunity to learn on educational apps monitored by the teachers weekly.

Cooking in the class is a fantastic way to involve children to learn about healthy meals while teaching them the important math and reading skills as they follow recipes and measuring ingredients. In addition, the children will learn about nutrition and healthy choices in a very fun and interactive way. Storybrook Academy will give the opportunity at least twice a month for each classroom to socially interact with one another through themed cooking activities.

Child Assessments

Storybrook Academy uses the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS) to assess the children in each classroom. The GELDS is “high-quality research based early learning standards for children birth to age five.” The GELDS are implemented to promote quality learning experiences for children and support the growth of the whole child. Each domain consists of multiple skills and abilities that your child should accomplish or can already achieve as well as you as parents support their growth, development, and learning potential. In addition, the GELDS will raise any awareness to early identification and referral of a child’s special learning needs.
